Game made for the HawkesJam #1!
Jam Theme: MICROSCOPIC MAGIC
Arcanome is a short fantasy puzzle-platformer. You'll need to experiment with DNA magic to discover different abilities.
CONTROLS:
- Z to jump
- X to cast spell
- E to interact with stone statues
- Left Shift to transform
- Tab to open the abilities menu.
KNOWN ISSUES:
- Sometimes an unlocked spell won't be selectable, you just need to move away from the altar, press shift again until all are locked, and then shift again on the altar! I think this only happens when you don't press shift after discovering and before being in the altar.
- The first DNA stone canvas is blocked by the tilemap, it just says to Press E
- Apparently a few people got stuck in the ground or.somewhere, you can actually reset the player's position in the pause menu.
I missed the first 4 days of the jam, but still happy with what this project ended being.

Everything was great until the bounce ability section. I just could not make it work. The was the last thing I unlocked, I think I had unlocked everything else except behind the crystal thing behind the mushrooms. Up until then, very creative and enjoyable.
Ohh what was the problem? Did you keep pressing Z? There's a sign nearby that says to keep Z pressed to jump higher, maybe I should've made it more clear or put the sign closer!
I saw the sign but pressing Z or keeping it pressed didn't make me jump significantly higher, not enough to proceed to the right where the skill is required.
Hmm that's weird, as long as you jump and don't put your finger up, you should be able to bounce in the platform and keep almost all of your height. Maybe it's a bug on some computers... thanks for the feeback tho!

I figured it out, I liquified when I needed to shrink; But I couldn't get back so I just restarted (even though there was a button lol)
